1. The number of residential building permits issued in New Zealand fell more than 8% m/m in January. Detached house approvals are the lowest in more than a decade.

2. Kiwi home building permits have fallen substantially in most major regions.

3. The value of residential building permits in New Zealand has plummeted and foreshadows a steep fall in actual building activity.

4. Non-residential building permits issued in New Zealand (by area) have also fallen to a low level.
