Thanks for the many interesting and insightful charts! Out of interest, how much of this data is publicly available? I'm interested in looking into some of these metrics myself, but it's hard to determine what datasets are available to me to use, and what's only available to professionals.
Depends on the type of data. Much of the Aussie data is publicly available via the ABS and RBA but cross-country data is harder to pull together unless you have a data service (or a lot of time to hunt it down!).
Thanks for the advice! One chart that got my attention was student visa grant rates - while I've tracked down a data.gov.au dataset, it seems to be locked. I'm not sure whether that information is fully available elsewhere, or something I'd need a data service (or some arrangement with Home Affairs) to access.

Right. Those data aren't locked per se.
It's a pivot table so organise the data how you want it BUT then save it as a .CSV file. Close and reopen and you'll have the data.
Oh yes, that's worked - great to learn about these workarounds! Thanks yet again, I'll have a play around and see what else I can learn
