1. The number of dwellings approved in Australia declined 6% m/m in August, led lower by a 10.6% m/m fall in the volatile higher-density component. New house approvals fell 2.9% m/m.
In annualised terms, the number of dwellings approved was 191.4k in the 3 months to August.
2. Most of the decline in higher-density home building approvals in recent months has occurred in Victoria.
