1. Weighted-average interest rates on new and outstanding housing loans in Australia were unchanged in July amid no change in the cash rate at the time. The average interest rate on all outstanding mortgages had fallen 42bps by July, with variable-rate mortgages seeing a 53bp decline.

The 25bp cash rate cut in August will flow through to August/September data.

2. Compared with mid-2021 rates, the net increase in average outstanding mortgage rates in Australia remains relatively large.
