1. Australia’s nominal retail trade jumped +1.2% m/m in June. Excluding food & eating out, sales rose a strong 2% m/m following growth of +1.2% m/m in May.

This is the last retail trade release with the ABS transitioning to the monthly household spending indicator which has broader coverage.

2. The ABS noted that “was driven by discounts linked to sales and new product releases”, particularly the Nintendo Switch 2.

Household goods sales rose 2.3% m/m, led higher by electrical & electronic goods (+3.9% m/m).
