1. According to SEEK, the number of new job ads in Australia fell 3% m/m in December, the third consecutive decline. Job ads declined across all states and territories.
2. As we have previously highlighted, there is some tension currently between measures of the stock of job ads/vacancies (ANZ, ABS) and new job ads (SEEK, IVI).
Stock measures have shown more resilience recently than measures of newly listed job ads. While this could reflect noise, it may also be that the stock measures will re-weaken in the near term.
