1. Melbourne Institute’s trimmed mean monthly inflation gauge for Australia rose a little in October in 3m/3m terms and remained well below the official ABS measure.

2. Standardising these inflation measures (i.e. relative to the long-run averages) is more informative in our view. While the MI trimmed measure is relatively volatile, it remained comfortably below average in October.
