1. Canada’s unemployment rate may have been unchanged in July but it has risen by more than 1.5ppts from the low to 6.4% currently.

2. At the same time, the share of the working-age population in a job in Canada continued to fall in July and is down 1.5ppts from the recent peak in early 2023. This is very different from the broadly unchanged profile in Australia.
